“history in Galveston…”

Last month a friend that I have known almost since I was born, a very long time:), hosted a ceremony for the dedication of the Wegner Home Texas Historical Landmark Plaque…  You can see the Plaque on the left hand side of the door…   They invited the firemen to come because of the homes ties to the history of the Fire Department…  The home was built for one of Galveston’s first Fire Chiefs, Ernest Johann Wegner and his wife Christiana in 1892.   Some of the men and women of the fire department were there along with several fire engines…  The fire department Chaplain came and did a small “blessing on the house.”  Many of the people there were from the family of the man for whom the house was built for.   It was a wonderful ceremony and I was so thrilled to be invited!

My friend is on the left and the lady on the right was one of the grand daughters of the original owner…

It’s really hard to see, but the painting in the bottom center of the wall is a painting of her house that my friend’s sister painted…  They are both so talented!
