“The Flagship…”

I look at what is left of this “hotel” and it brings back some memories from my childhood.  I believe it was the very late sixties when it was built and I was just entering Junior High.  At the time it was supposed to be one of the “coolest” places to stay on the island because it sat out over the water.  We would hang out in the ocean under the hotel.  At the time swimming was allowed there, I think…  Obviously the “undertow” didn’t get us, because I am here typing this…  When “Ike” came it demolished a good part of the motel that was already in very bad need of repair and took most of the bridge out from the Sea Wall to the hotel.  The word “on the street” is that “someday…” the owner is going to rebuild…  I’m wondering if that means “tear down and rebuild???”  BTW, the hotel is not longer there.  Right now the piers and the old parking lot and the base of the building is the only thing there.  Signs say that soon it is going to be some type of an amusement park…
